Lewis Bay Lighthouse

Lewis Bay sketch

Lewis Bay Light in Hyannis Harbor was privately built. It is a replica of Brant Point. The 26-foot tower houses a flashing green light. We mistook this lighthouse for South Hyannis Light early in our travels.

Directions: At the rotary where State Routes 28 and 132 intersect, veer south onto Hyannis- Barnstable Road. Follow this to Ocean Street - you should be able to see the harbor at this point. The light is not open to the public, but can be viewed from the harbor. The ferries from Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket travel directly past the lighthouse.

Note that the lighthouse is surrounded by private property. Please respect the privacy of the owners. (January 2007)
