Somers Cove Lighthouse

Somers Cove sketch

In 1867, a cottage-style screwpile was built on the Little Annemessex River to mark the entrance to Crisfield Harbor. The light was named Somers Cove, which refers to Crisfield's inner harbor. The light was built for $10,000, and housed a small sixth-order lens.

In response to a letter from someone inquring about the light's history, the Lighthouse Board responded that "the files in this office contain no record of any particular historical interest in connection with this light."

The lighthouse was demolished in 1930 and replaced with an acetylene light built on the original foundation. The automated light was renamed Little Annemessex River Light No. 7.
