Bay Beacons - Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay (Linda Turbyville, Eastwind Publishing, Anapolis, MD, ISBN # 1-885457-07-3) - Hardbound book containing history, technical information, and photographs of the current lights of Maryland and Virginia along the Chesapeake. See Forgotten Beacons (below), which complements this text well. The Fenwick Island Lighthouse (Flyer purchased at Fenwick Island) - page-long document describing the history of the Fenwick Island light. This was available at the lighthouse. Forgotten Beacons - The Lost Lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay (Patrick Hornberger and Linda Turbyville, Eastwind Publishing, Annapolis, MD, ISBN # 1-885457-09-X) - Complement to Bay Beacons (see above). Includes information on "every lighthouse, lightship station, depot, and major tender which served the Bay." Guiding Lights of the Delaware River and Bay (Jim Gowdy and Kim Ruth, Laureate Press Inc., Egg Harbor City, NJ, ISBN # 0-9670391-0-X) - Comprehensive, thoroughly researched volume detailing the Delaware Bay and River lights of Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania - including those that no longer exist and those that were planned but not built. This is an outstanding book. The 2nd edition is, unfortunately, out of print. We purchased a used copy online. The Lighthouses of the Chesapeake (Robert de Gast, The Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore, MD, ISBN # 0-8018-1548-7, 0-8018-4765-6 (pbk.)) - Published in 1973, this book contains beuatiful black and white photos of the lights of the bay as they stood over twenty years ago. Complete and well-researched. Lighthouses of New Jersey and Delaware - History, Mystery, Legends and Lore (Bob Trapani, Jr., Myst and Lace Publishers, Inc., Elkton, MD, ISBN # 1-890690-15-5, An entertaining collection of tales and facts on a number of the lights of New Jersey and Delaware. Lighthouses of the Mid-Atlantic Coast (Elinor DeWire, Paul Eric Johnson, Voyageur Press Inc., Stillwater, MN, ISBN # 0-89658-570-0) - An attractive coffee-table book that tells stories of the various lights of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Lighting the Bay - Tales of Chesapeake Lighthouses (Pat Vojtech, Tidewater Publishers, Centreville, MD, ISBN # 0-87033-466-2) - A complete history of lights of the bay, written chronologically to incorporate the context in which lighthouses were built and lost on the bay. Also includes a short section on each Chesapeake light at the end of the book. Mid-Atlantic Lighthouses (Bruce Roberts, Ray Jones, The Globe Pequot Press, Guilford, CT, ISBN # 1-56440-984-8) - filled with beautiful photos, history, and directions to many of the popular lights of the mid-Atlantic.
